Google is one of a few companies that has turned their name into a verb. How many times have you told someone to “google that” when you are suggesting they do some research on the internet about a topic. I know Google has become a regular word in my vocabulary.
Well, recently it’s become a regular page open in my tabs. My customized Google home page. If you have a Google account (it’s free so you really should have one) you can create a customized Google home page. Then select your customized Google home page to be your home page in your browser and you’ll always have the information you want at your fingertips.
There are hundreds, if not thousands (I’m too lazy to count) of gadgets you can put on your customized homepage. You can even make tabs to keep the most important things at the top and less important things sorted on other pages.
So, what’s on my homepage?
My Main Page:
Google Calendar — a summary of my Google Calendar
Remember the Milk — my to do list
Google Reader — a reader of the blogs I read
Eyes — a cool little thing Google has that I indulge in sometimes…hey, it keeps me happy
My other Tabs:
News — two news feeds
Fun Stuff — a joke feed and a How To feed (the how to feed is funny…today’s: How to Safely Swim with Piranhas)
Work Stuff — some work related news feeds.
You’re guaranteed to find a gadget that you’ll find useful.
Till later…
