MyHours
Yesterday I mentioned a second website that I have open all day, myHours. I’ve been using this site exclusively for my time tracking for over six months. I attempted several different time tracking options and have found this to be the easiest and most effective for me. Today I’ll discuss who will find this service helpful and tomorrow I’ll give you some tips on using it.
First, let me explain the #1 reason I like this time tracking solutions so much…it’s FREE. Yes, you read that right, it’s free. There is talk on the site that they may charge for reports at some point but at cheap as I am I’ll still use it when I have to pay for it.
So, if you’re an employer you’ll find this site useful for tracking your employees time. You can set up a “company account” with jobs and tasks and keep track of what your employees are doing
If you’re a virtual assistant or business owner you’ll find this site useful for keeping track of your billable hours. You can enter your clients and track your time by task and client to quickly and easily bill time.
If you use subcontractors you will find this site useful for keeping track of their time. You can set-up a “company account” and map clients and tasks to your subcontractors and see details on how much time it takes them to accomplishs tasks.
The reports are useful. I’ll be honest, if I designed the service I’d make some changes but I really don’t have any complaints about it. You can export the reports into Excel which makes it nice for making changes or “prettying it up” before sending with you billing.
My only complaint is that you can’t upload your time directly into QuickBooks. But, I’ve used QuickBooks time tracking and didn’t like it so I’m OK with spending the time reentering my time into QuickBooks.
The thing I think I like the best is the ease of switching between jobs. The site makes it easy to start and stop your time or switch to a different client/task which is convenient when a call or something pops up that you need to switch quickly.
I will admit that since I’ve started using myHours I have switched from billing in 15 minute increments to billing by the minute. The reports print out with your time summarized by the minute and since it’s so easy to change tasks it just makes sense to keep my time that way.
I’ll go into some tips on using the service tomorrow.
Till later…
